About
Start Sleeping Better in As Little as 2–3 Weeks
Meet Erin Dame, PA-C
Hello, I’m Erin Dame, the proud founder of Theta Sleep Clinic. I created this clinic to provide a more personal and focused approach to insomnia treatment. My mission is to deliver effective, individualized care in a setting free from the limitations of corporate healthcare—giving patients the time, attention, and support they need to truly transform their sleep.
My Clinical Background
My path began with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Southern Utah University, followed by a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University in Arizona, where I graduated near the top of my class with a 3.99 GPA. Since becoming a licensed Physician Assistant in 2012, I’ve developed a broad, integrative medical background that includes primary care, pain management, preventive medicine, and gastroenterology. These experiences helped me build a deep, interconnected understanding of chronic conditions and patient care.
Eventually, I specialized in sleep medicine through my work at Intermountain Healthcare’s Sleep Disorders Center in Salt Lake City. There, I trained under Dr. Lori Neeleman, one of Utah’s foremost experts in insomnia. I gained extensive experience managing complex sleep disorders—ranging from insomnia and circadian rhythm issues to sleep-disordered breathing in patients with significant comorbidities such as respiratory failure, heart failure, and leukemia.
While at Intermountain, I worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings and developed a CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia) education program still in use at Intermountain Health.
Sleep as a Foundation for Health
Poor sleep is strongly linked to an increased risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression, and even early mortality. Poor sleep can increase inflammation and put strain on nearly every system in the body.
Sleep is foundational to health—vital for cardiovascular function, cognitive clarity, immune resilience, and emotional well-being. Helping people move from restless, inconsistent nights to deep, restorative sleep is not just powerful—it’s life-changing. That’s exactly what I strive to deliver at Theta Sleep Clinic.
Why Behavioral Sleep Medicine?
Most people think of sleep problems as something you treat with medication—but in many cases, that’s only a short-term fix. The gold standard for treating chronic insomnia is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), a structured, evidence-based approach that works by identifying and shifting the thoughts, habits, and body rhythms that interfere with sleep.
CBT-I and its briefer version, BBTI, have been shown in dozens of clinical studies to be as effective as sleep medications in the short term—and significantly more effective in the long term. These therapies are skills-based, which means once you’ve learned the tools, you can carry them with you for life. Behavioral sleep medicine helps you reset your sleep from the inside out—safely, naturally, and sustainably.
A Few Personal Notes
I’ve spent over a decade helping people improve their health, and I’ve had the privilege of working with over 800 clients to address a wide range of sleep challenges. My commitment to sleep medicine is rooted not only in clinical training but also in personal experience. Like many of the people I work with, I’ve faced my own struggles with sleep—and I understand how exhausting and isolating it can feel when rest doesn’t come easily.
The same evidence-based techniques I now use in my practice have helped many clients restore their sleep, improve their energy, and regain confidence in their ability to rest. These tools have also supported me through periods of high stress and transition, and they continue to shape how I approach care: with empathy, flexibility, and respect for each person’s unique process.
I believe that good sleep is a skill anyone can learn. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to force anything. With the right support and a plan that fits your life, meaningful change is possible—and I’d be honored to help you get there.
